Punggol Development

Over the next few years, Punggol will be one the largest town in Singapore, will be transformed into a vibrant hub.

Waterway Point by Far East will be the largest shopping mall in the area, expected to be completed by the end of next year. This will be followed by the Punggol Town Square, a community gathering space located next to Waterway Point. There are also plans for other facilities within the town centre, including a community club, regional library and hawker centre.

As for sports and recreational facilities, come 2016, Safra Punggol clubhouse is expected to be ready to serve residents looking for alternate dining, workout space adjoining the new Regional Sports Centre. Regional Sports Centre will cater to a wide range of sports for both competitive and leisure or events for all to enjoy.

A childcare centre and a primary care facility will build along Punggol Central, will also be up and running in few years time together with Singapore Institution of Technology (SIT) at Punggol Learning Corridor.

Improvement to the transport system will ease the congestion and take away the term “wulu” (inconvenient) with the addition of new MRT line, new road to TPE/KPE and semi-expressway.

Punggol will continue to provide well-placed and comprehensive amenities to better serve the needs of residents.


E-Bridge centre

Sited opposite Horizon Primary, expected to complete in late 2016, the E-Bridge centre will be one of five large childcare centres with 500 children for the working parent’s staying in the vicinity.

The centre will have a few first for pre-schools, such as temperature measurement equipment for mass screenings, plans for a running and cycling track, a spacious rooftop garden, and dedicated areas for water and sand play.

 


 

Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT)

Established in 2009, SIT will have a new campus in Punggol’s learning corridor.

The university currently have about 2,000 intake per year, and will rise to 3,500 students a year by 2020.

Learning Corridor will enjoy physical and programmatic links with the The Creative Cluster, this cluster is set aside for innovative new industries. This two area are planned to include green links to the waterfront, as well as public spaces for the larger community to enjoy the area, providing an attractive work, learn and play environment. Community will be able to share in the new facilities, such as its classrooms, workshops and multipurpose hall. Businesses and residents feel that SIT will liven up the area.

 


 

Punggol Oasis Terrace

Located next to the Oasis LRT Station, the 27,400 sqm project, expected to complete in 2018,  dubbed Oasis Terrace which is a Commercial plus Medical concept building.

New generation of integrated development that brings together communal amenities and services, the neighbourhood centre will house childcare centres, the Punggol Polyclinic, a community plaza, as well as retail and dining facilities under one roof.


New MRT Lines

Bringing Punggol nearer to everywhere in Singapore.

By around 2030, The 2km North East Line will be extended northwards to serve Punggol North including the new Punggol Downtown. This is to facilitate future residents in Punggol North going to the city centre as well as other parts of Singapore.

There will also be a Cross Island line (CRL) approximately 50km in length and is targeted to complete by around 2030 will starts from Changi passing through Loyang, Pasir Ris, Ang Mo Kio and all the way to Bukit Timah, West Coast, and ends at Jurong Industrial Estate.

It will provide commuters with greater comfort and significantly shorter journey times. The CRL will also include a segment that extends into the centre of Punggol. Residents in Punggol will be able to travel to Pasir Ris in only 10-15 minutes, compared to bus journey today which may take almost 40 mins.


Punggol Semi Expressway

Currently under construction, this will be the main route for inter- and intra-town travel in the longer term.

A semi-expressway will have a maximum speed limit of 70km/hr with existing examples which will be the West Coast Highway and the Nicoll Highway, where vehicles are allowed to travel at a maximum of 70kmh.

The decision to build the new road to connect Punggol Central to the TPE and KPE came after a feasibility study was completed in 2013.

Punggol Hawker centre

More many years, hawker centre is missing in this part of growing town to provide reasonable priced food for residences. In 2012, good news to all food-loving Singaporeans, there will be a new Hawker Centre serving delicious and affordable dishes to residences in this up and coming town.

Punggol to have 7 new waterfront districts

In Oct 2012, THE Housing Board has unveiled the next phase of development for Singapore’s first eco-town estate, Punggol. Estimated to be twice the size of Ang Mo Kio, the eco-precinct is expected to boast seven new districts for waterfront housing, as well as abundant greenery.

Flora will be the main role in the nation’s first eco-town. The existing waterway will be enhanced with green spaces extending northwards. Coupled with the town centre, a new sports complex and the learning corridor. This area will form the “green heart” of the town, it will extend from the “green heart” to reach the coastal promenade and Coney Island, where a park is completed in 2014. Cycling tracks will also be built in tandem with new roads to encourage a clean commute.
